Resided in Suburban Detroit, Michigan
Charles Robert Gaidica, Sr., known to friends and family as "Chuck”, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the age of 85 years.
He was born in Chicago on July 12, 1933 to Hilda and Fred Gaidica. Chuck graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago and held a few jobs before enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He remained on active duty for four years and served another four years reserve achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. While he was known officially as a radio repairman, Chuck worked in various capacities with honor.
On January 7, 1956 Chuck married his sweetheart Geraldine and soon started a family. He sold life insurance and eventually became a sales broker for a local realty company. After many years in sales, he joined several family members and went to work for Bell & Howell in Chicago as an assembler, repairman and supervisor of many. Chuck also bought and sold used cars to supplement the family income. He later retired but continued to fix just about anything that would break. He always had a quick wit and playful spirit.
He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Geraldine (nee Borst). Love lives on in his sons Chuck Gaidica, Jr. (Susan), Chris Gaidica (Ellie) and daughter Gigi Lang (Edwin). He will be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Tiffany, Charlie (Chantel), Matt, Kelsey, Riley and Addie along with three great-grandchildren, Adam, Lucy and Claudia. He was predeceased by his father Fred, mother Hilda and brother Freddie.
