EILEEN RUTH GALLOWAY
October 30, 1986 - January 20, 2018

Eileen R. “Eily” Clemens Galloway, age 31, passed away on Saturday morning, January 20th, 2018. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 30th, 1986 to Jim and Linda Clemens. She moved with her parents and five siblings to Royal Oak, Michigan in August 1988. Eily excelled as both a student and athlete at Royal Oak Kimball High School, playing four years on varsity softball, and two years on varsity basketball, elected captain of both teams. After graduating high school in 2004, she attended the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering in 2008. Eily also went on to earn her Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University.

In September 2015, Eily was diagnosed with leukemia. She died on the second anniversary of her first bone marrow transplant. Eily had a passion for coaching, starting with baseball at the age of 14, and coaching every year after. She was also an assistant basketball coach at Berkley High School. Eily had a tremendous spirit, and passion for life. She lit up every room she walked into and made everyone around her better. Eily approached every task, and obstacle with the belief that she could, and would overcome. It was this strength and belief in herself, and others that drew people to her throughout her life. And why to her last day, she was loved by so many.

Eily is the loving daughter of James and Linda Clemens, dear sister of Erin Welch (Dana), Erica Stone, Jeremy (Jody), Joshua (Stephanie) and Elizabeth Newton (Mike) and cherished granddaughter of William Thayer.
